Quick facts about CSS bargaining:
- The Community Social Services collective agreement expires on March 31, 2012.
- About 15,000 CSS workers in 9 unions are covered by the talks.
- HEU is the third largest union in the multi-union Community Social Services Bargaining Association, with 1500 members.
- BCGEU is the lead union in the sector, followed by CUPE BC.
- The CSSBA will begin negotiations with the Community Social Services Employers Association on February 27, 2012.
- CSS members work in group homes and day programs for people with developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol programs, transition houses, immigrant and refuge support services, infant development, childcare, aboriginal services, and many others community-based social services.
- March is Community Social Services Awareness Month. During March, members throughout the sector will be reaching out to the community to raise the profile of their work and the important services they provide.
