BB #4 HEU workers to tell their stories when facilities bargaining resumes January 29

Bargaining bulletin

The multi-union facilities subsector bargaining team will meet with the Health Employers Association of B.C. for a third day of talks to secure a new collective agreement on Thursday, January 29 in Burnaby.

Joining them at the bargaining table will be front-line HEU members from around the province who provide a broad range of critical health services to patients and residents in B.C.’s hospitals and long-term care facilities. The workers will tell their own stories to illustrate the need for a comprehensive settlement that will reflect the diverse nature of the facilities subsector’s 40,000 health workers.

The important issues of ongoing funding for the Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare, and of employment security to ensure that skilled and experienced health workers remain on-the-job delivering quality services to British Columbians and preserving public health care, were discussed at previous sessions.

Talks will continue on February 5 and on February 18, 19 and 20.
