Community health sector kicked off preliminary bargaining talks this week

Bargaining bulletin
January 27, 2012

The Community Bargaining Association (CBA) – an association of unions, including HEU, that’s led by the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union – met this week to begin preliminary negotiations on a new collective agreement. The current contract is set to expire on March 31, 2012.

HEU, which represents 1,500 members in the community health sector, held a pre-bargaining conference in December to vote on bargaining demands and elect representatives to the bargaining committee.

Priorities for this round of community health bargaining include wages, job security, improved benefits and scheduling provisions.

The CBA, which also includes UFCW 1518, HSA, CUPE, USWA and CLAC, negotiates with the Health Employers’ Association of BC (HEABC).

Additional bargaining dates have been set for the weeks of February 6, 13 and 20.
