Community Social Services unions demand minister take immediate action to ensure deal by deadline
The Union Bargaining Association (UBA) is calling on B.C.'s finance minister Carole Taylor to take immediate steps to address the "negotiating ineptitude" of the employers, and to assure community social services workers that any final agreement they are offered is comparable to what other public sector workers have received to date.
They say employers have continually dropped the ball. By last night the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) had not costed the financial package correctly, and was unable to provide accurate compensation figures for individual members, despite being required to do so by B.C.'s Labour Relations Code.
The unions say the province's finance minister must make concluding this deal her top priority today and assure workers that this sector will not be sold short.
