Wages, benefits next on the table for Summerland Seniors Village

Bargaining bulletin

Good progress has been made on non-monetary items after two days of bargaining between HEU members at Summerland Seniors Village and Well-Being Seniors Services Inc. During the July talks - re-scheduled from June – the union and the employer reached agreement on a grievance procedure, how jobs are awarded and hours of work language.

That clears the way for discussion on wages and benefits when first contract negotiations resume on August 20. HEU's bargaining committee met last week to prepare their monetary package.

There are 60 HEU members – care aides, activity aides and LPNs – employed by Well-Being to work at Summerland Seniors Village, a residential and assisted living complex owned and operated by Retirement Concepts.
