The next round of contract talks is just around the corner with the facilities subsector collective agreement set to expire on March 31, 2012.
That’s why the union’s Provincial Executive has scheduled a Facilities Bargaining Conference (formerly Wage Policy Conference) for November 20, 21 and 22, 2011. November 20 is an evening-only plenary; times to be announced.
In May, locals received a package with delegate entitlement, credentials, accommodation forms, examples of how to write a bargaining demand, and a blank template for writing bargaining demands.
Original, embossed credentials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on August 22, 2011 (no faxes accepted) at the HEU Provincial Office. Deadline for submitting bargaining demands is 5:00 p.m. on September 21, 2011, and accommodation forms are due by 5:00 p.m. on August 22, 2011. These can be mailed or faxed (604-739-1510) to the Provincial Office.
In the lead up to the Facilities Bargaining Conference, the union will also be holding a series of five Occupational Conferences in September. A separate package was mailed to locals with complete details and deadlines.
Locals were give advanced notice to elect Facilities Bargaining Conference delegates at their local’s regular June meeting, or hold a “special meeting” prior to the credentials/accommodation form deadline of August 22. A reminder that delegates must be eligible under Article 4 of HEU’s Constitution and By-Laws and must be elected by a quorum of your membership.
