Community Social Services
About 1,400 HEU members are covered by the community social
services collective agreement which expires on March 31, 2010.
Late in 2009, contract talks began between the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) and the multi-union Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA). The talks were initiated by CSSEA with the intention of reaching an early collective agreement. By December 21, these negotiations had broken down.
The CSSBA resumed talks in the new year.
HEU is one of ten unions in the CSSBA, with the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union being the largest in the sector.
