LRB issues temporary order on January 28 political protest
Late in the evening of January 28, the Labour Relations Board issued a temporary order in regard to political protest action undertaken by HEU members against Bill 29 and the policies of the Campbell government at Vancouver-area health care facilities earlier that day.

While the Health Employers Association had sought an immediate ruling from the board that yesterday’s political protest activity was illegal, only an interim decision was issued to allow HEU to have a full and proper hearing for our position that the actions undertaken by members are protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms as legitimate political protest.
According to the ruling, HEU shall immediately refrain from declaring or authorizing strike activity, and that union members shall refrain from participating or continuing strike activities or picketing at HEABC-member facilities.
HEU agreed to communicate this ruling to our shop stewards, and to post it on our website for 30 days.
