Special hotline set up for updates on comparability, pay equity developments

As part of our efforts to press government and employers to implement our recent comparability victory, HEU is launching a special hotline to keep members up-to-date and informed about the latest developments in the final chapter of the union's long struggle to eliminate gender-based pay equity settlement. "November is an important month," says union secretary-business manager Chris Allnutt. "We'll continue to meet with the Health Employers Association of B.C. to implement more than $100 million in pay equity adjustments ordered by arbitrator Stephen Kelleher in his September comparability ruling. And, we should anticipate that the Labour Relations Board will get around to dealing with HEABC's appeal of the arbitration ruling." To access the hotline in the Vancouver area phone 739-1515. For all other areas of the province phone 1-800-663-5813 extension 515. Donít forget to check HEU's web page (www.heu.org) for more detailed updates. Meanwhile, Allnutt and other senior union leaders will continue with a comparability/pay equity speaking tour to meet with members in major centres across the province. Upcoming meeting times and places will be included in hotline updates.
