Support CUPE’s fight for fairness in Lower Mainland municipalities
Our CUPE sisters and brothers who work across the Lower Mainland delivering municipal services to the public are bargaining with their employers for fair contracts. Most have been without a contract since December 2006.
But municipal employers have been demanding wage rollbacks, benefit takeaways, and a freeze on the wages of some of the region’s most vulnerable workers. Bargaining has stalled. Many CUPE locals have strike votes in place and job action has begun in the City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Public Library, the District of North Vancouver and the North Vancouver Recreation Commission.
Please take a minute to learn about the issues facing CUPE civic workers in your community by visiting <www.fairnessforcivicworkers.ca>. You can also send a message to your mayor and council from this website.
And if you see CUPE members on a picket line in your community, please stop and show your solidarity with their fight for fairness.
We have been advised by CUPE 391 that on Monday July 30th and Tuesday, July 31st , CUPE 391 will have pickets at the following Library Branches:
Central Library – 350 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC
Joe Fortes – 870 Denman Street, Vancouver, BC
Kerrisdale – 2112 West 42nd Avenue, Vancouver, BC
Britannia - 1661 Napier Street, Vancouver, BC
