Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) - Introduction
HEU offers annual workshops for occupational health and safety stewards on joint OH&S committees who have not attended the two-day Intro OH&S or 2013/2014 one-day mini OH&S course.
Participants learn how to apply the WCB Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Regulation to protect workers’ rights and ensure safe workplaces. They also learn about the duties and responsibilities carried out by joint health and safety committees.
Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) - Supplementary
- This is a one-day supplementary workshop for members on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. It follows the Introductory OH&S Workshop. Training deals with effective inspections, meaningful incident investigations, and moving toward a "green" hospital.
One-day Know and Assert OH&S Rights Workshops 2017 (formerly called OH&S Rank & File)
All HEU members are offered the opportunity to learn about workplace OH&S and to learn about their legal right to a safe work environment.
This one-day workshop will cover many issues, including what the employer must do to eliminate or minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs), how to apply the Regulation to address the growing problem of on-the-job violence, bullying and harassment, and workload.
Two-day Intro OH&S Workshop
This is an Introductory Occupational Health and Safety workshop for HEU members who are also members of their work site Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) Committee), or if space is available, other members interested in understanding the structure, roles and functions of the JOHS Committee and who wish to organize around health safety concerns at work.
