The Joint Community Health Retraining Fund has updated application forms making it easier for members working in the community health sector to obtain funding to upgrade skills in their current job, a related job or other job classification.
The fund covers retraining to aid and assist those members who have lost their job due to layoff, bumping, contracting out, and retendering. Successful applicants may receive up to $5,000 (lifetime maximum) to take eligible courses.
Detailed information on the conditions governing the Joint Community Health Retraining Fund and the application process, as well as application forms, are available here:
The retraining funds are available as a result of a settlement between health unions, health employers and the B.C. government related to a June 2007 Supreme Court of Canada ruling on Bill 29.
