They’ve provided a number of resources that will help you piece together the seniors’ care puzzle, and propose a number of solutions to improve the quality of care available to seniors. They’ve also provided information in both Punjabi and Simplified Chinese.

The provincial government is allowing publicly funded, but independently operated, residential care homes opt out of, or de-accreditate from a provincially negotiated collective agreement that sets out a common standard for wages and working conditions for nearly 40,000 health care workers.

You can download a petition addressed to the B.C. government objecting to this move and asking that the change be reversed. Return petitions to “Stand Up for Seniors” Care campaign, Hospital Employees’ Union, 5000 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC V5J 5M3.
