Union Activism

The goals of the one-day workshop are to introduce new activists to the union and union rights, and to encourage members to become involved in HEU.

Table Officers’ Conference

One-day conference to provide training and tools to assist newly-elected local officers (chair and/or secretary-treasurer) to effectively fulfill their duties; develop leadership skills; provide an overview of B.C.’s current political landscape, and discuss the importance of political action at a local level.

Women’s Conference

A two-day conference focusing on women in leadership roles.

Introduction to Shop Steward

A three-day course that gives participants the skills and confidence they need to become shop stewards.

Know and Enforce Your Rights

This three-day intermediate shop steward workshop is offered to HEU members currently dealing with grievances and contract enforcement, and who have already taken the HEU Introductory Shop Steward workshop.

Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)

In a two-day workshop, participants learn how to apply the WCB Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Regulation to protect workers’ rights and ensure safe workplaces.
