Bargaining committee reports steady progress in first contract negotiations with AdvoCare
The joint B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) and the Hospital Employees" Union (HEU) bargaining committee says steady progress is being made in negotiations for a first contract with AdvoCare.
Following meetings with AdvoCare representatives on June 4 and 5, the union bargaining committee reports that the two parties held fruitful discussions on several non-monetary items.
Despite some difficulty finding future bargaining dates, the two parties have agreed to meet again on July 8 and 9, with a possible extension to July10, and August 6 and 7. It has not yet been decided if the parties will also meet on August 5.
In addition, the union caucus will be meeting on July 29 and 30.
Wages and benefits, and the term of the agreement, will be on the table for discussion after the majority of language issues have been settled.
Union spokespeople say there is still a lot of work ahead to reach a first agreement, and they thank members for their ongoing support of their bargaining committee.
If you have any questions about negotiations, please contact your member-bargaining representatives or union staff representatives Barbara Offen (BCGEU) or Heather Compton (HEU).
