CSSEA tactics hold up printing of collective agreement
Delaying tactics by the Community Social Services Employers Association mean that health care workers in this sector still do not have a printed copy of their ratified collective agreement.
Although the agreement was ratified in the fall of 1999, there are still some outstanding issues to be resolved.
“CSSEA is using this fact to minimize their obligation as employers to implement the negotiated settlement,” says HEU secretary-business manager Chris Allnutt. “It’s time to settle this matter, get the agreement printed and time for the employers to fulfill their commitment to their workers.”
Issues still under discussion are parity, long term disability and the status of new certifications. Arbitrator Don Munroe met with CSSEA and the four unions covered in this agreement — HEU, BCGEU, CUPE and HSA — in December 2000 to assist in concluding these issues. The parties agreed to further meetings and are waiting for more dates to be scheduled.
