Deadline extended for setting essential services levels in Community Social Services
The B.C. Labour Relations Board has extended the July 22 deadline for determining all essential services levels for community social services workers in B.C.
The new deadline is July 30.
Community Social Services workers are prevented from taking any job action until essential services staffing levels have been set at every worksite across the province.
After nine months of procedural delays by the Community Social Services Employers' Association, the LRB has ordered that the process must be completed in its entirety by the end of July.
While the essential services process continues, community social services workers are gearing up for job action. Hundreds of activists from across the province are attending solidarity schools to discuss action strategies, establish communication networks, and learn how to set up regional strike headquarters.
Schools have already been held in Prince George, Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna, Terrace and the Lower Mainland. More schools are scheduled for Nanaimo, Fort St. John, Williams Lake and Castlegar.
Members are asked to keep in touch with their local executives and tune into the union's website for up to date information.
