Second week of CSSBA bargaining focuses on non-monetary proposals
The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) met again this week with the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) to resume negotiations and exchange non-monetary proposals. Now in the second week of bargaining, both groups are having meaningful discussions and making progress.
“There isn’t a family in B.C. that hasn’t received support, or knows someone who’s received support, from a Community Social Service (CSS) worker,” says Andrea Duncan, Chair of the Negotiating Committee. “Every day, CSS workers make sure some of our most vulnerable citizens are safe and cared for, and we are here to make sure those that provide this care are valued and supported.”
The Community Social Services sector has been in crisis for well over a decade and the CSSBA is committed to bargaining the mandate of their membership. This includes winning improved working conditions, better wages and benefits as well as addressing precarious working conditions.
The Community Social Services Bargaining Association is made up of 16,000 members working around the province and represented by the following unions: BCGEU, CUPE, HEU, HSA, CSWU, UFCW, USW, SEIU, CLAC and BCNU.
