Wage and benefit improvements for all Sodexo ARHCC classifications pending industry-wide vote results
HEU members employed by Sodexo in the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal health authorities are voting on a tentative, industry-wide settlement reached April 26, 2009. Voting started May 11 and will conclude and be counted on May 26. The union will communicate the vote results to all members as soon as possible.
HEU members employed by Sodexo at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre have a three-year collective agreement that includes a “me too” clause. If the industry-wide agreement is approved, the 2008 wage and benefits improvements will apply to members at ARHCC.
The remaining ARHCC two-year wage increases are 3 per cent and 3 per cent in accordance with the collective agreement that ARHCC members voted on after the transfer from MSA.
Members at ARHCC do not vote on the industry-wide agreement. A second vote would be illegal, as there is a ratified agreement in place already. However, a representative from the Sodexo ARHCC local was invited to participate in industry-wide negotiations to provide input and report back to members at the worksite.
It’s important for members to know that the “me too” monetary improvements only come into effect if the tentative agreement is approved in Fraser and Vancouver Coastal worksites.
Those improvements include wage increases of $.30 per hour as of January 1, 2009 and $.35 per hour as of April 1, 2009.
In addition, health and welfare benefits cost sharing would be improved to 70 per cent employer-paid and 30 per cent employee-paid, effective June 1, 2009.
Casual employees who work 20 or more hours per week for three months would be entitled to enroll in the benefits plan and accept a regular float position.
