HEU’s 32nd Biennial Convention Call
HEU’s 32nd biennial convention is scheduled for November 1-5. This convention was previously scheduled for November 2020 but was delayed because of pandemic-related restrictions.
On May 5, 2021, the HEU convention call was sent by registered mail to the Secretary-Treasurers that we have on file for our locals.
As of the date of the convention call, B.C. remains under a state of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Public health orders currently in effect in B.C. restrict travel within the province and place limits on most gatherings and events.
While we hope that BC’s restart plan will lead to fewer restrictions in the coming months, it is not yet clear that holding a large in-person convention will be permitted by November 2021.
Your HEU Provincial Executive is monitoring the situation and considering alternatives to the scheduled in-person convention including moving to a virtual online platform where delegates can participate remotely from their communities.
We will clarify convention details as soon as possible.
All paperwork for convention must be received by Tuesday August 3, 2021 by 5:00 pm at Provincial Office. If your local’s information wasn’t up to date with the union, the Convention Call package likely went to the previous person in your local holding the Secretary-Treasurer position.
