HEU’s third Independent Bargaining Conference for Seniors’ Care will be held May 29 – 31, 2019 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond.
This conference is for members in the Independent Senior’s Care sector only (includes long term care, assisted living and independent living).
The purpose of the conference is to:
- Connect with each other to share experiences working in the sector.
- Review the sector-wide bargaining priorities that continue to guide our bargaining and political action.
- Build skills and confidence to organize and fight for better working conditions, wages, benefits, job security and the creation of a sector-wide framework for collective bargaining.
Locals in this sector will be sending delegate representatives from each worksite to participate in these important discussions about improving working and caring conditions for members.
Delegates and alternates will be elected at a Local membership meeting or a special meeting of members working at that site.
Delegate forms must be received in HEU’s Provincial Office no later than Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 5 pm.
IF you are an HEU member in the Independent Seniors’ Care sector, and are interested in being a delegate to this conference, please contact your local executive.
About the sector
HEU’s independent sector represents workers at for-profit and non-profit long term care facilities across B.C. that are not covered by the Facilities Bargaining Association master collective agreement.
Members in this sector work in all job classifications, including as care aides, LPNs, RNs, housekeepers and dietary aides.
We have over 100 separate collective agreements in this sector, representing about 8,000 members.
