Mental Health First Aid Workshop

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing the worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.  Just like physical first aid is provided until medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate support is found or until the crisis is resolved.

Why take the course?

  • Increase your knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental health problems, with a focus on substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders.
  • Increase your confidence to help someone experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Increase awareness to engage in confident conversations about mental health and help reduce stigma

This workshop is intended for Local stewards, OH&S stewards, Joint OH&S Committee members and activists who deal with issues of mental health in the workplace.
