We stay strong because we are united

"We face COVID every day, and we stay strong because we are united.

At first, many of us were panicked, but now we know that we have to do our job to stop the spread of the virus. Because if we don’t, who will? This is the time we are needed the most.

I’m a housekeeper in the ER department, and as a person, as a worker, I want to give the best that I can because this is concerning. I don’t want anyone to get COVID – not my co-workers, not patients, not me.

We don’t want to bring this home to the people we love. We give it all we can, and do the best cleaning possible, so there is no cross-contamination.

Every shift, our department has a huddle to go over safety protocols. It’s also where we support one another. I think what has helped is the support we show one another as co-workers.

When one of us got COVID, we knew it could have been any of us. This virus doesn’t pick you on purpose – so we supported our co-worker. We sent her messages and left groceries at her door to show that we are united as co-workers, as friends, as family.

We need to be united. In our hearts, we need to support one another. It’s the only way to stop COVID."
