HEU Lion’s Gate Hospital members to “lunch” with Katherine Whittred today at 11:45 a.m.

Anger over privatization still strong as health care workers await deeper cuts announcement expected next week

Members of the Hospital Employees’ Union (CUPE) from Lion’s Gate Hospital and other health facilities on the North Shore will gather to “lunch” at the constituency office of Long-Term Care and Seniors Minister Katherine Whittred beginning at 11:45 a.m. today.

The lunch break visit to the North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA to protest the Campbell Liberal’s extreme agenda in health care follows on the heels of a demonstration by seniors, their families and caregivers from West Vancouver’s Capilano Care Centre. They took their outrage at the proposed long-term care facility’s closure from the foot of Lion’s Gate Bridge to Whittred’s office earlier this morning.
