Health care providers, people with disabilities advocates to call for improved rehab services for British Columbians The Hospital Employees' Union, joined by the B.C. Coalition of People with Disabilities, will hold a noon-news conference to launch a campaign to halt the proposed closure of the G.F. Strong Centre, a tertiary rehabilitation facility for the entire province, and to call for a government review of the state of rehabilitation and maintenance services for people with disabilities in B.C. When: Noon, Wednesday, September 22 Where: Plaza 500 Hotel, Granville A room 500 W. 12 Avenue, Vancouver In July, the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board unexpectedly announced its intention to close and relocate G.F. Strong's services to the site of George Pearson Centre. The campaign will be focussed on improving rehab services for British Columbians.
