Remember to attend the pharmacare rally Sept. 30, 1 pm to oppose Pharmacare cuts

Seniors, patient advocates and health workers are gathering at a public meeting Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Hilton-Metrotown’s Crystal Ballroom, 6083 McKay, Burnaby, to sound the alarm about threatened cuts to B.C.’s Pharmacare program.

Sunday is the last day of the province’s 20-day “consultation” on the future of one of the province’s most critical health programs. Cuts or changes to the program are on the agenda, despite Premier Gordon Campbell’s election pledge to protect health services.

Health economist Dr. Bob Evans, of the University of B.C., will be joined by speakers from provincial seniors’ organizations and patient advocates, as well health workers.

The meeting will be the only opportunity for British Columbians concerned about the government’s threat to Pharmacare to have their voices heard.
