Major new study to be released Wednesday says health care system wastes untapped potential of Licensed Practical Nurses, Care Aides who can help address nursing shortage

The 46,000-member Hospital Employees’ Union will release a major new study tomorrow that points to broad-based solutions to the nursing shortage facing B.C.’s hospitals, long-term care facilities and community health agencies.

The result of a 15-month joint project between health care unions and health employers, the study looks at how Licensed Practical Nurses and Care Aides are underutilized in the delivery of nursing care in this province.
