Education funds still available for HEU members working in community social services
The Community Social Services Labour Adjustment and Education Fund Committee, first bargained in 2010, is still accepting applications from members working in the community social services sector.
Successful applicants may receive up to $5,000 (lifetime maximum) to take eligible courses.
Please review the materials below to see if you qualify for education funding in CSS related programs or courses.
The L.A.E.F. covers retraining to aid and assist those individuals who have lost their job due to layoff, bumping, contracting out, retendering, or have had their hours significantly reduced; and who are taking courses or upgrading to continue working in a unionized community social services position within B.C.
These funds were first made available through a grant from the provincial government resulting from a joint request made by the Community Social Services Bargaining Association and Community Social Services Employers Association during the negotiation of the 2010 – 2012 collective agreement.
