Friday is application deadline for occupational conferences
If your work site hasn’t already selected representatives – based on your local’s entitlement – for the union’s fall occupational pre-bargaining conferences, you have until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, July 15) to do so.
The occupational conferences are an opportunity for members – in patient care, patient care technical, clerical, support, and trades & maintenance job families – to provide direct input into the bargaining priorities relevant to their occupational category. The facilities subsector collective agreement is set to expire on March 31, 2012.
Representative registration and hotel accommodations forms must be received by July 15, 2011 (5:00 p.m.) at the HEU Provincial Office.
If you are interested in attending, please contact your local executive.
We encourage locals to send a diverse representation of job families within each occupational grouping, based on your local’s entitlement. For example, if your local is allotted two representatives for the clerical conference, you may want to send one finance clerk, or one staff scheduler, or one nursing unit assistant, etc. rather than two staff schedulers or two medical transcriptionists. That way, diverse job classifications are represented and have an opportunity to bring their issues forward.
Following the occupational conferences, bargaining priorities – determined by each occupational group – will be submitted by the Provincial Executive to the Facilities Bargaining Conference in November.
