THE LESBIAN AND GAY STANDING COMMITTEE of the Hospital Employees’ Union will be supporting the AIDS Walk once again this year with their innovative and exciting “The Sky is the Limit” campaign.
On September 11 from noon to 5:00 p.m. in Abbotsford, members and friends of the LGSC will be skydiving to raise money for AIDS Walk 2004 and heighten awareness about HIV/AIDS. And you are invited to join them in the jump.
The jumps are in tandem with a certified expert instructor and are guaranteed to get your heart pumping and your senses tingling. There’s nothing like a view of the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley from 10,000 feet in the sky.
Whether you decide to parachute or cheer the jumpers on, the fund-raising day promises to be filled with fun, food — there’s a reasonably priced barbeque at the jump site — and community spirit.
Anyone interested in donating, joining the jump team or walking together at AIDS Walk 2004 should contact LGSC member Victor Elkins at 604-240-9880 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
by August 27.
AIDS Walk 2004 is on Sunday, September 26. It starts at Upper Ceperley Park in Stanley Park in Vancouver. One hundred per cent of the proceeds go to direct services for men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS in your community.
