HEU extends application deadline for facilities occupational conferences
The union just announced that the Provincial Office will receive applications to the Occupational Conferences, scheduled this fall, until August 5 at 5:00 p.m. (the same date as the Wage Policy credential deadline). No applications will be accepted after August 5.
Although HEU has received about 450 applications from facilities members working in clerical, patient care, trades and maintenance, support, and patient care technical, there’s still room to accept more participants to ensure a wide variety of job families are represented at each conference.
In the coming weeks, participants will be notified of their acceptance. The union is requesting that locals post the names of Wage Policy delegates so that members know whom they can talk to prior to the Occupational Conferences.
Even though not all locals were given participant entitlement to attend the Occupational Conferences – due to local membership numbers and the entitlement formula – the union does want your voice to be heard. Therefore, HEU has activated a series of bargaining email addresses for each of the five occupational job families.
- Patient Care (Nursing Team): firstname.lastname@example.org
- Support Workers: email@example.com
- Trades and Maintenance: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Clerical Workers: email@example.com
- Patient Care Technical: firstname.lastname@example.org
These email accounts will be monitored by the HEU staff advisors assigned to the occupational P.E. subcommittees, and your correspondence will then be forwarded to the appropriate parties (including the subcommittee members).
We encourage you to email your local’s occupation-based bargaining issues and priorities for consideration. All other comments and inquiries should still be sent to the union’s general email box at <email@example.com>.
Please do not send bargaining demands to these email addresses. All bargaining demands must be passed at local meetings – with quorum – and forwarded to the Provincial Office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009.
