HEU members skydive for charity

A crew of adventurous HEU members – equipped with parachutes and teamed with a professional instructor – will leap in tandem from a small aircraft at 10,000 feet during the third annual The Sky is the Limit fundraising event on September 16 in Abbotsford.

Sponsored by HEU’s Lesbian and Gay Standing Committee, funds raised at the skydiving and post-BBQ celebration will go toward the HEU Team’s donation to the British Columbia Persons with AIDS Society’s 10 km WALK for LIFE (formerly called the AIDS Walk), held the following weekend – Sunday, September 24 – at Stanley Park.

Last year’s walk raised over $420,000 for persons living with HIV/AIDS across the province. Since 2003, the HEU Team has raised about $3,500 through its fundraising initiatives. Previous skydiving participants include HEU president Fred Muzin and financial secretary Mary LaPlante.

To join or pledge a donation to HEU’s Team (team number is 2046), please check our website <www.heu.org> (Human Rights, Equity Caucuses, Lesbian and Gay Standing Committee), or call 604-240-9880. You can also go to the BCPWA website <www.bcpwa.org> or call 604-915-WALK (8255) to join the HEU Team.
