As part of a massive reorganization underway in Lower Mainlandhealth authorities, pharmacy operations will be managed by the Fraser HealthAuthority.

Health employers have now served notice that they have setApril 1, 2011 as the target date for transferring employees in pharmacyoperations in Providence Healthcare, the Provincial Health Services Authorityand the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to Fraser Health.

For most employees, the transfer to a new employer won’taffect the location of their work.

Under the 2010–2012 facilities collective agreement, theunion negotiated a number of provisions to protect members’ rights and benefitsin the event of transfer to a new employer. Many of these rights are protectedunder a “template agreement” negotiated earlier this year.

HEU has also established a committee that includes membersfrom pharmacy in each of the health authorities. The committee is engaged inongoing meetings with health authorities in order to protect members’ interestsduring this period of change.

Any significant new developments will be posted on the unionwebsite.

In the meantime, you should raise any concerns or questionsyou may have about the transfer with your HEU shop steward.
