- Refusing unsafe work
Everyone has the right to a safe work environment. In this one-hour webinar, hosted by HEU’s health and safety prevention staff, we will walk you through:
- The four basic health and safety rights of all workers
- The steps to refuse unsafe work
- The steps your employer must go through if they reassign work that has been refused, based on new rules that came into effect in 2022
- Where to find helpful information about unsafe work refusal on the HEU website
We'll wrap up with a discussion about barriers you might face when exercising your right to refuse unsafe work, and brainstorm ways to overcome them.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. It will be held on Zoom. Each class is limited to 50 participants.

- Reporting workplace injuries or work-related illness
This hour-long webinar will review how, when, why and the importance of reporting workplace injuries and illness, including mental health related.
The webinar, hosted by HEU’s health and safety specialists, will cover:
- What is a work-related injury or illness
- The importance of immediate reporting
- How to report a work-related injury or illness

- JOHS committee appointment process for HEU local executives
This hour-long webinar is for HEU local executive members.
HEU local executives are responsible for the selection and appointment of Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) worker representatives and, in smaller locals, worker health and safety representatives.
The JOHSC plays an important role in workplace health and safety, giving members a voice in matters relating to health and safety issues.
This workshop walks you through the process of appointing JOHSC representatives in your local.
