Over the coming months, we are providing Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) members with a series of regular updates about the renewed Facilities collective agreement.

This first update outlines a number of provisions in the 2025-2029 Facilities collective agreement including substantial general wage increases, shift premiums and several other compensation-related gains.

Wages

Under the agreement, FBA members will receive a general wage increase of three per cent in each year for a total of 12 per cent over the four-year term. Members will receive the first general wage increase shortly and will also receive retroactive pay backdated to the first pay period after April 1, 2025. The second-year general wage increase of three percent will be available to members the first pay period after April 1, 2026.

Shift premiums

Premium increases for night, weekend and evening shifts:

  • Night shift – Increased from $3.00 to $3.40 per hour. Effective first pay period after April 1, 2026.
  • Weekend shift – Increased from $2.00 to $2.30 per hour. Effective first pay period after April 1, 2028.
  • Evening shift – Increased from $1.90 to $2.05 per hour. Effective first pay period after April 1, 2028.

Other compensation gains

There are additional compensation improvements that apply to specific members:

  • Trades ticket qualifications – Premiums increase to $1,500 for one ticket and $3,000 for two, starting the first pay period after April 1, 2026. Casual employees are also eligible for these premiums on a prorated basis.
  • Porter benchmark grid – Moves up to grid 17 in April 2026 and to grid 18 in April 2028. Porter supervisor moves to grid 21 in April 2026.
  • Peer-to-peer support allowance – Starting the first pay period after April 1, 2026, employees designated by the employer to provide support to a new coworker will receive a $15 allowance for the first supernumerary shift. This does not apply to employees whose assigned role already requires supervision.
  • Unused sick leave – Effective the first pay period after April 1, 2026, there will be a 50 per cent pay out of unused sick leave credits paid upon retirement, or eligible voluntary departure, up from 40 per cent.
  • Professional registration fees – The list of occupations, to which professional registration and licensing fee reimbursements apply, has been expanded to include power engineers, protection services officers and supervisors, and building security   officers. Plus, reimbursements now apply to eligible casuals. Effective April 1, 2026, the employer will reimburse the funds directly to the employees.
  • Bereavement leave – Increases to four days as of April 2026.
  • Criminal record check – Reimbursements can now be claimed by new employees, effective the first pay period after April 1, 2028.
