The Hospital Employees’ Union has declared its unwavering solidarity with the people of Iran, who remain under grave threat – both from intensified military hostilities and deepening domestic repression.

The mounting hostilities have created new dangers for people across the region, compounding existing suffering and instability.

On June 22, the United States launched airstrikes on three targeted sites in Iran. These attacks mark the first direct U.S. military intervention in the conflict, and have drawn urgent global pleas for restraint.

We remain deeply concerned about the worsening repression inside Iran: trade unionists, feminist leaders, students and journalists continue to be imprisoned, tortured or executed for speaking out. Many are part of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement.

As a union committed to human rights and social justice, HEU:

  • condemns all acts of military aggression, and calls for an end to violence and war;
  • demands the immediate release of political prisoners in Iran, and an end to state repression;
  • reaffirms our solidarity across borders, with oppressed communities in Iran, Palestine, and beyond; and
  • supports peaceful, diplomatic efforts.

HEU will continue to raise its voice – standing with workers, activists, and those resisting authoritarianism, occupation and violence in all forms.
