The Environment Committee makes recommendations to and advises the Provincial Executive. The committee:

  • Develops education and action plans on climate action in health care.
  • Identifies environmental issues in the workplace, including the risks associated with toxic substances, sustainable procurement practices, green jobs and green contract language, public water and power.
  • Identifies, trains and supports an expanded network of green workplace activists.
  • Liaises with environmental committees within the labour movement and with the broader environmental movement.
Past achievements:

Thank you to HEU’s previous environment committee members and local activists, who have been performing green acts of kindness at their workplaces for the past decade. This work has included surveying HEU’s membership to identify environmental action priorities, and implementing workplace recycling initiatives.

And congratulations to local activists at HEU’s 100 Mile House local who won the CUPE Earth Day contest in 2015.

Take the 2016 Environment Committee Survey
