At its March 12 meeting, HEU’s Provincial Executive (PE) approved a Provincial Executive Campaign Rules policy which takes effect today.
This policy builds on the union's Constitution and Bylaws to provide clear, consistent guidelines for candidates and delegates during Provincial Executive elections at Convention. It sets expectations for how candidates declare their candidacy, access supports, and participate in the Convention process.
Importantly, it also reinforces our shared commitment to respectful, fair, and democratic elections. The policy outlines standards of conduct for campaigning, including expectations around respectful communication, responsible use of information, and maintaining the integrity of our union throughout the election process.
These rules are intended to support a transparent and accessible election process, while ensuring that Convention remains a space where members can participate with confidence and respect.
Please note, any members considering running for the Provincial Executive at the 2026 HEU Convention must read this policy. As well, the union encourages all locals and delegates to review this policy in advance of Convention.
The new policy is available here online.
