HEU is proud to share that our general counsel Kaity Cooper has been appointed by the provincial government as a vice-chair of the B.C. Labour Relations Board (LRB).
Kaity’s appointment is an important recognition of her expertise, leadership, and long-standing commitment to strengthening fairness and balance in labour relations across British Columbia.
During her time with HEU, Kaity played a key role in two recent rounds of Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) negotiations, contributed to the establishment of the Ethics Commission office, and supported the development of HEU’s Code of Conduct.
Kaity has earned deep respect throughout the labour community for her sound judgement, collaborative approach, and deep understanding of labour law. These strengths will serve her well in her new role at the LRB.
The B.C. Labour Relations Board is an independent tribunal responsible for overseeing labour relations in unionized workplaces across the province. Its responsibilities include mediating and adjudicating disputes, assisting parties during collective bargaining, and ensuring workers can exercise their rights to join a union.
HEU congratulates Kaity on this significant achievement and thanks her for her dedicated service to our union and its members.
