Following months of negotiations, including five intensive days of talks last week and a twenty-four-hour session, the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) bargaining committee is pleased to announce that a tentative agreement was reached with the Health Employers’ Association of BC (HEABC) on Sunday, Feb. 22.
In the days ahead, a detailed summary of the tentative agreement will be prepared, including wage calculators, monetary and non-monetary highlights and a clear explanation of the changes. This work is already underway, and your patience is appreciated as we ensure members have the complete and accurate information needed to review the deal.
This tentative agreement is the result of the strength and solidarity shown by workers across seven unions. The strong strike mandate sent a clear message to the employer that community health workers are united and serious about achieving fairness and respect. That unity helped secure significant gains at the table.
Progress was made on member-identified priorities, and a fair and transparent transition process was also secured for supportive housing workers moving into the CBA.
Full details will be shared soon, along with information to support members through the ratification process in the weeks ahead.
At the CBA bargaining table, committee members Nicole Russell, Lisa Bouma and Donna Zmaeff represent HEU’s community health members, along with servicing representatives Brenda Brown and Tasha Whenham.
HEU community health members are encouraged to keep their contact information up to date to stay informed throughout bargaining.
The Community Bargaining Association includes BCGEU (the lead), CUPE, HEU (2,300 members), UFCW, HSA, BCNU, and USW, covering 23,000 health care workers across the province.
