HEU’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is critical to building a powerful, inclusive union for all. As part of our DEI work HEU is offering this one-day workshop, Queer, Trans and Two-Spirit Justice for Allies.
By learning about one another, and how we can support each other, we can work together to help dismantle barriers and systems that create oppression.
This workshop is open to all HEU members who are interested in learning about 2SLGBTQIA+ history, issues, allyship and community, whether you identify as a member of the community or are applying as an ally.
During this one-day workshop, participants will:
• Review terminology and definitions in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community (and what those letters mean!).
• Explore challenges and barriers 2SLGBTQIA+ folk may experience in workplaces and wider society.
• Learn about the impact of oppression on gender and sexually diverse workers.
• Understand what an ally is and what allyship looks like in practice.
• Discuss some of the current issues in the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community.
Applications will be available January 6, 2026. Please note, if you click on the link before that time, it will not work.

The Climate Crisis in the Workplace and our World Workshop
The climate crisis is one of the most urgent issues of our time. As healthcare workers, HEU members face the impact of this crisis daily, as it affects our health and the safety of our communities. Ecosystems, species, and all life on earth depend on a healthy planet, and we can all take action to protect it.
