In this workshop, members will:
- Build familiarity with HEU’s history and background as a social justice union.
- Learn the language that supports union rights in the workplace, including orientation (“induction”) language.
- Understand the importance of applying an equity lens in their work as activists and during orientation sessions.
- Strategize the most effective ways to conduct orientation sessions at their workplaces, including how to deal with employer push backs and obstacles.
- Develop workplace organizing skills.
- Learn practical tips for public speaking and have opportunities to practice these skills.
- Become comfortable using technology to support sessions, including sharing slide decks, audio, and video.
- Practice delivering a full orientation session as they would at their worksite.
- Create a plan for how they will go back to their worksite and deliver these sessions.
