On February 22, the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) reached a tentative collective agreement with the Health Employers Association of British Columbia. About 2,300 HEU members working in community health will vote on whether or not to accept the agreement.
The comprehensive report gives an overview of the tentative agreement and highlights key changes and improvements. It also includes copies of each signed article, with all changes clearly marked.
Under the tentative agreement, members will receive a three per cent general wage increase each year for four years – a total increase of 12 per cent. Some positions will also receive additional targeted low-wage increases.
The tentative agreement also includes:
- Improved weekend and afternoon shift premiums
- Stronger occupational health and safety language
- Additional funding for the Community Health Benefits Joint Trust
- A fairer overtime system
- More predictable scheduling
The tentative agreement achieves pay parity with workers covered by the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) in the first year of the four-year term. This is achieved through a combination of the three per cent general wage increase, targeted low-wage redress, flex allocations and improved shift premiums.
The ratification vote will be held online starting Monday, March 16 at 9 a.m. and ending Thursday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m.
